Elan Valley (Wales) 29/04/07

Well I decided to head up to Wales from sunny Dartford on saturday night, left work at 4:30, headed home to pack and left my place about 5:15 to head to Al's place in Ruthin, North Wales, got there for about 8:30 (excellent time) and here's a couple of photo's from the top of the Horseshoe pass on the way up....

Anyway, got to Al's, had a few beers and crashed out for the night. Left early after a brief wash of the car (It was dirty again in seconds :slap: ) and headed off to the first meeting point....

Headed back over the Horseshoe Pass to get to the next meeting point and I've got to say if you like driving your BRM hard then go to this area of Wales. The roads were perfectly designed for it, I sat pretty much in the vvc zone in third gear planting it into the twisties and pushing on the way out, the grip from the Dunlop's is amazing and I could feel the difference the lowered springs, strut brace and Torsen diff make to the handling. It was a truly amazing run and is the first time i've really tested the BRM on the road!! :thumbsup:

We met Ady at the first meeting point, no-one else was there so we trecked off to the Elan Valley....

When we got to the Elan Valley we met up with lots of other MG-Rovers. A vvc powered Metro, various Coupe's, lots of Rover 200's, a few ZS's and some very nice ZT's.

Took a wee convoy to the dam, was great with so many cars, although we did basically clog up the roads :rofl:

On the way to Aberystwyth through some more lovely windy roads, not as fast or hard as the morning run as we were in a massive convoy. It was also at this point that my camera phone filled up :slap:

Had some nice fish and chips on the West coast of Wales and decided to make the trip home about 4:30, took roughly five and a half hours to get back and I was exhausted. Here's the ZS i followed for a wee while, I forget the drivers name but we had a good blat.....

Unfortunately not, it had huge rally spotlights on the front. As we were heading into the Elan visitors centre it came screaming up behind me, certainly shifted! Big BMC induction kit under the bonnet too!
