I'm asking for a volunteer if anyone fancies stepping forward!

Recently i've been finding myself having less and less time to devote to this site, but by no means do I want it to disappear or for the enthusiasm to be lost. I am therefore asking for a volunteer if anyone fancies being an event/meet organiser for theBRM.co.uk?

It would basically involve planning events throughout the year for members to visit museums, circuits, car-parks....pretty much anywhere that you can think people would be willing to travel to meet.

I will support anyone that takes on this role however I can. The way I planned events in the past was simply to pick an area of the country at random, pick a location in that area and see who turns up. You may wish to ring the location to see if we can get discounts, etc (Gaydon is a prime example of this).

Obviously if no-one wishes to do it I will continue to arrange events as and when I can, but cannot promise regular ones.

I will continue to promote any shows that people contact me with details of though.

Cheers

Adam

Organising an event is easy. Getting people to show up for it is another matter entirely!

Very very true!

Got to be someone dedicated, which is why I was asking for volunteers. If no-one fancies it i'll carry on but like I said I can't gaurantee regular events unfortunately :(

just a thought but would it be easier if it was done in regions, e.g. north west, south west, etc. Then each area could host a meet, and each area have its own organiser.? With perhaps a central meet up yearly?

Good idea! I think it's difficult for one person to organise UK wide meets when they prob won't be able to attend themselves - and all you BRMer's seem to be down that there soft south anyway!

I've done lots of meetings up North, but just got much waylaid with buying a house, crap at work, etc.

I'll be arranging more, don't worry. Trying to think of new places to go is always a challenge :D

I agree.

I would be happy to step forward as a mids area rep.

The attendance thing is something that clubs are all subject to.

Would it help if things were twinned with other events.

E.G say a Touring car event? meet at local services, convoy to race track etc, etc a days entertainment and the rest.

Santa Pod for drag racing?

Or any other events that people may think of even if the sun is forecast, the roads are nice and there is a pub (serving food) at the end of it then who knows.

If we really want some driving i have copies of all of the test run routes we (Jag land rover) do around the UK normally a 400 - 500 mile trip - in all directions from the Mids.

I don't think a BRM is a match for a funny car.:smile2:

we could all help to organise events, i dont mind phoning up places to reserve parking, try getting discount and stuff. if we all agree on a date then there should be a good turn out, rather than picking a day and only a few turn up. just a thought.
