View Full Version : Rear Lights
If you feel the need to update the rear lights on the BRM there are many replacement options available as they are a common fit across the entire R2200/R25/MG ZR range.
I opted for an aftermarket set of lights from ABC design that have a smoked look to compliment the BRM’s dark green colouring.
To fit them firstly remove the inner liner from the boot, it is attached with small plastic clips/screws as shown below.

The backing plate of the light cluster is unclipped and the bulb holders are twisted from the lights. The picture below shows the backing plate off but the bulb holders still in place. The 3 bolts highlighted need to be unscrewed and the unit is ready for removal.

Replacing the unit with new lights is simply a reversal of the job, however the foam gasket from the original lights may need to be used with the new lights if they don’t come with a new one.
The results of new lights can be seen below.

We have the Trophy lights & the paintable sets. The paintable set look good as they colour code the lights to your car. I think they are shown on our website.

Daz - like it a lot.. Adam again like it BUT there are all to same same to me.. maybe some LED's (From Ultra) would look better?
I've thought about the LED ones, unfortunately they're prone to having the LED's blow and you cant replace them individually (not easily anyway) plus they dont do a smoked set for some reason which is what I'd like.

I like the leds the most, the red ones, not the silver, with the two circles in the middle.
but I also find that the standard lights are more then nice, so why waste money?

true, true but then again, why do you buy a BRM if you have that attitude, why dont you just buy the orginal 200?

Surely if you grease up the seal you will be fine.. the corsa and Focus 2 lights are always letting in water BUT they seem to be reliable.. On another topic i have some Lexus ones which i took off my BRM available..

Is it me or has that notting to do with it?
buying a brm or a normal 200 is a diffirence, but they both have the same lights. so if I like them as much as after market lights... stays the same. I just like the standard 200 lights.
and what has that to do with an attitude??

oh i agree the lights on the orginal are nice, but its the way you put it, why waste money on the new lights, well if you look at it like that, why waste money on the brm rather than the rover 200
And the attitude thing, it can mean the way you look at something, not just when you are in a mood
but then that is my opinion on your comment, you dont have to agree with it!
the brm of course is worth the money, just fro the record guys lol

original lights -aftermarket lights
or
BRM - VI (that means a torsen in stead of none, an uprated brake cilinder, better handling, other gearbox, the lovely red interior and the outside)
or
small difference vs HUUUUGE difference
but I see your point
and maybe one day I wil buy those leds I like, but they are not top priority because I like the originals. first things first: Horses and project x

Boys, boys each to their own, one man's meat another's poison.. as long as you have lights that mean no one runs up the ar$e of the car then that's good!

I just got a set of these:
Lights (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GENUINE-Trophy-rear-lights-lamps-MG-ZR-Rover-25-200_W0QQitemZ250152181072QQihZ015QQcategoryZ72246Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
The were delivered yesterday and took 5 mins to fit! for £40 inc postage they were a bargin and look the schnizzle!
I also got a set of crystal clear sidelights (inc bulbs) from ebay for £3.60! another bargin and even less time to fit!
Just the de-oranged front to go and I am done with the lights, then onto front splitter, rear spoiler and maybe a new exhaust (depending on funds)!
