Hose fun

Well today was meant to be my day off, went to check fluid levels and noticed my PAS fluid was almost gone!

Looks like the thicker hose that runs from the pump to reservoir had split ever so slightly.

I could not get hold of one that was new from any local garages so went to my local scrap yard, luckily they had two 53 plate ZRs so got one from that.

The hose has fitted fine and my power steering seems to be ok, but I have noticed the part numbers for the hoses are different, is this anything to worry about?

Should be fine matey, they probably changed the material or somesuch hence the different part number.

Looks like it is slightly shorter as the old hose has rubbed on the metal around the wheel arch.

Done about 50 miles and no leaks so all good now!

Good stuff. I'll be having a look at mine, make sure its ok. Suppose it wouldn't be too hard to reinforce if it is rubbing.

Looks like it passes through near the engine mount and this is where mine split. It is already got some plastic sheathing on it from stock. Looks like the original hose was longer than needed and rubbed in even more places!
