Can anyone help, my baby has developed a knocking noise when cold, suspect vvc mech but to compound the problem, it just wont rev over 4000 rpm almost as though its firing on 3 cylinders but still smooth accelerating just slow, any suggestions please.

Sounds like a problem with the VVC mechs, especially if it wont rev past 4k.

have you checked the timing??cam belt may of slipped a tooth.....
