View Full Version : De-orange front indicators
Hi Guys.
I want to de-orange my front indicators, similar to the original demo car. I have heard it mentioned a few times on this site, but can't find any reference on how to do it. Can anybody tell me what is involved, is there any merit to doing a quick how to for the modification section?
Cheers
Jona
1. Take lights off car
2. Heat seal between clear plastic lense section and dark plastic backing section with a hair dryer while gently prising them apart
3. Once apart simply pop out the orange lense
4. Re-seal the units using a clear sealant form any decent hardware store
5. Sit back and admire!
That's the quick guide :D

I hope we're not too proud here to go posting shortcuts to other sites (I'm about to find out :))

Have a look at the linky - this is what my son used to de-tango the headlamps on his 214 8v. (I can't open it at the moment - hard disk crashed and I haven't reloaded all the software yet - should be OK though)
It just goes in to a bit more detail with some pics (IF I remember correctly)
I hope this helps (nowt wrong with Adam's condensed version by the way!)
All the best,
Gary.
Good stuff Gary. I didn't have time earlier to find the guide

I'm just happy to know that we're not sensitive about mentioning other sites and forums here. :D
De-tangoing bubble headlamps isn't rocket science, but it's easy to melt the casing or burn your hands uf you're not careful.

As long as its not offensive or rude then I'm easy :D
Cheers for the info, I will give it a go over the christmas break!

I've been doing this and found that those wooden clothes pegs with the spring fit inbetween the edges of the front lens and the black plastic housing. Leave in the sun on a warm day such as today and settle down with a beer or two and watch the two halfs seperate ever so slowly.

Wow. That's a really abstract way of doing it. Your mind works in wonderful ways.

This is possibly the most sensible suggestion Ive heard in ages simply because it involves beer :)
