Hello, my name is Sergio and I have one of the few Rover BRM LE 200 who arrived in Spain, I had a problem and I have been broke engine, I managed to find an engine MG ZR160, there is something wrong this engine is mounted in the BRM? problems with electrical sockets, or ECU?

Thank you for your help,
Greetings from Barcelona (and sorry for my english!)
Sergio

Welcome to the site Sergio! Don't worry about your English, its better than some English people I know

The engine will fit fine, I know there is an extra sensor on the ZR to the exhaust, but this can be blanked off.

Thank you very much to answer!,
I am becoming a little crazy with the search:weirdo:, is necessary also that it buys along with the motor the ECU and loom? my engine is 18K4K (145cv), I seen other two models of 1.8 engine 18K4Y(160cv), 18K4F (120cv?), anyone of these two models also fit in the BRM? I have to buy the engine in UK, bring it to Barcelona and mount it and would want to have the less problems with the electrical and electronic section (ECU).

Thanks a lot for your help!! Your have a friend in Barcelona!:beer2:

It would be a straight swap with a 18K4K if you can find one. Can be sourced from a Rover 200vi, Rover 200 BRM, Rover 25 Gti and I believe some of the MG F or TF's although not sure which ones.

The 18K4F is non-VVC so no good to you.

The 18K4Y will fit in but will require some tweaking of the electrics.

The engine number of the zr is missing one number but if it one of the last six it doesn't matter because that is only the serial no.

18 K 4 K M08 340632
18 K 4 K N30 44889

Here is a breakdown,

18 - 1800cc
k - k series
4 - 4 vals per cyl (16v)
k - mpi with cat VVC

M08 - should be an aircon engine?

N30 - MGZR Core 02MY 160PS A/C Manual Transmission

MY = Model Year
A/C = Air Con

Like Adam has said as long as the first five letters and numbers match it should be an easier fit
