BRM Dealer Modifications

Hello everone, Having just bought a BRM today i thought I should join.
The question that I have is, has anyone else heard of Rover altering the last few remaining BRM's at dealers because they were not selling? My one has a silver grill and a silver rear spoiler, the seller told me Rover dealers did this to shift them, if this is the case I wont change it back as it is an original feature of the car.

That's entirely true, the dealers couldn't shift the stock so some painted the front grills either Brooklands Green or Sparkle Silver (i've not heard of the rear spoiler being sprayed before though).

Obviously the original colour scheme is the BRM Orange for the lower grill, you'll probably find that colour underneath the green paint if you chipped it away. Orange is the original feature but the decision to spray it was taken because "some buyers were put off by the garish colour" as I have been told on many occasion.

Hi m8typ and welome to the forum.

Yes, some dealers did paint the front nose silver as they figured the orange nose was just too much for most people, but I doubt the rear spoiler was done by the dealer unless a customer asked for it and paid the extra. As for originalty, well, no silver is not an original feature as it never left the factory like that.

Thanks for your feedback, ive seen a lot of you have already seen the car under the thread 'cover your eyes...its bad'. The rear lexus style lights have to go for a start.
