Sorry to hear of this - glad to hear your solution isn't "sell it off in bits".
I haven't a clue on the quality of the gasket kit. Someone will be along shortly.
defo not sell it in bits!! totally against that, ill fix it if it costs me an arm and a leg! lol, just seen the top end gasket kit for £72 off the same website. ill be doing it myself, save some valuble pounds.

Damn, that's a p!$$er... Mine went a couple of months ago, so I feel your pain...
Mine did cost an arm and a leg to fix - 'cause I had to get someone else to do the work. So DIY will be a big saving.
Good luck!

You would be better off with the Multi Layer Head Gasket rather the one advertised on that web site, cheap but your choice
ill take ur advice there, any websites in mind? or price?

There seems to be a bit of a split opinion between the MLS gasket and Payen gasket.
I don't know what the peculiarities are of each, but both seem to do the job. There's a thread on xpowerforums at the moment that's got some good photos as one of the traders (Rally Matt) on the site is carrying out this repair on an MGZS. I haven't read the whole thread so don't know which gasket he's doing.
I hope no-one minds me posting a link, although I htink you may have to register in order to see the photos.

It may be of no actual help, but is interesting.
trying to find the right head gasket but i also need the whole top end gasket kit. any sites you all know about?
Hes back on the road, changed the head gasket today, MLS gasket, along with a new cam belt and tensioner, thermostat, a few other gaskets and the stretch bolts. long job but worth it, no damage to the engine thank god. ready for the summer. :)

was it a head of and on job, no skim or pressure test? how long did it take you , gona do mine next weekend....dependant on the damage to the gasket once stripped depends if i send the head off to be skimmed and tested..
I took the head off and examined the head gasket but couldn't see where it was broken. It took about 10 to 12hrs to get it all done. Done it over a week though. I didn't change the water pump which I regret because its seeping water from somewhere which I think its from the pump. Not a big worry when it goes, quite fun stripping and rebuilding. Lol
