Doe anyone know if it failry straight forward to remove the heater controls? I'm assuming the centre console has to come out.

My temp control dial isn't turning smoothly, feels like it's catching on something springy so I want to take it apart and have a look see.

I haven't done this on a 200 bubble, but have managed it on an older R8 model 414sli.

I don't remember what exactly was involved, but I managed it ok. I'm reasonably sure the similarities between the two models extend to the dash area.

If I can manage it - anyone can manage it ;) - just gotta be methodical about it.

The first thing to check is the heater control valve, they can seize up. It is under the bonnet between the bulkhead and the engine. It is fitted in the heater pipework. Remove the heater control cable of it and then if the heater knob turns freely you know it is the valve. You might be able to free it of or it may need replaced.

Thank you kind sir, that was indeed the problem - you saved me wasted hours taking the centre console out! Sorted with a bit of care and a dab of oil! =]
