Every time I put my foot down, at all, it stutters and misses. This happened to me a few years back, and the cause was the cat, so on saturday I replaced it.
When replacing the cat I came across a bit of metal in the cat! what can it be???? oh and it still misses and stutters
Can anyone help?

Missing and stuttering tends to be ignition. If it runs smoothly at idle or on a feathered throttle it is unlikely to be anything to with the rotating bits or the fuel system.
1 Has it got sh*t petrol in, did you run the tank very low?
2 Are the plugs ok?
3 I'm new to Vvc engines, do they have coil packs? If they do I'd put good money on that being the problem. If theres no coil packs you need to check the whole ignition system.
I've taken lots of engines to bits, (and put them back to-geather!) and I've never seen anything like that. Probably part of the failed cat.

Thing is, it was before the cat, as in engine side of the mesh in the cat
My inital though was Injectors, but now im thinking lamba sensor?
Ive just put a new coil pack on, thinking of putting the old one back on to see if it makes any difference

I have changed the Lambda sensor (Back of manifold) on my R25, and it looked nothing like the debris in that pic. However iirc there are 2 lambda sensors 1 in the manifold, and 1 post-cat as well. But I doubt that would be in your cat

i think you would need more than a cat if your injectors or o2 sensor ever managed to work there way down that far!! ...could well be just some internal "workings of the cat has come loose over time... if shes running ok then dont worry..certainely nothing to do with the coil pack as you mentioned,,,hard to say what it is without seeing it in the flesh.

Its not part of the cat, there is mesh on either side of the cat so nothing can go through it.
There is only one o2 sensor on the exhaust, and it wont have to travel far to get to the cat, im gonna whip it out and have a look anyway
Its not metal either its ceramic, with a metal collor inside
It is running like a bag of shit at the moment, its as if theres not enough fuel getting in, which makes me think its the lambda sensor!

That to me looks like part of an ignition lead boot, how the hell it has got there god only knows.
EDIT.. it's metal so it wont' be the only lambda is PRE cat, be horrified, it culd part of an old exhaust mounting?

I thought that as well at first.
Very strange....

It looks like a severed and badly burnt finger to me! you should count yours in case you've had a horrific accident when tinkering under the bonnet and you've just not noticed!
anyone put it there to get a nice rattly noise? lol.
