More K-series woes

Hi guys

Not been on here for a while the BRMs been sitting not doing much.

I decided to buy some KW coilovers + front & rear strut braces and fitted them last week. The cars been sorn so needed an mot, fitted a new exhurst at the same time to pass that.

The cars just had a new flywheel and clutch 100 mile ago aswell as all the work fitting the new head and head gasket.

I was driving to the mot on monday and experienced the worst head gasket failue i've ever seen.The gasket failed between the water channel and cylinder 2. I lost all power as water filled the cylinder snapped 2 valves, in turn cracking the liner and head, the cause, a dodgey head bolt!

Got a 160 engine coming next week, i'll take some pics of the transplant and post them up.

On an up side the handling was on another level before the engine let go!

The engine minus the gearbox is up for grabs if anyone wants it, all the rest of the pistons and liners are ok, it was just cheaper to buy a new engine rather than fix this one.

Ha thing is i already had a 160 head on it!

Had my eye on a PTP 190 lump but the other half would have killed me in my sleep if i spent £5,400 on the rover!

It was booked into the wizards of nos on the 7th of may for a 50 shot, not sure if i'll make it now but fingers crossed!

Are you running aftermarket management as the 160 engine is MEMS3 not MEMS2 as the std BRM engine is?

Also 50 shot of NOS.. is that a wise idea? will you be uprating the K series to cope?

Na am just gona change the coil packs over and use the old rocker cover and HT leads, worked perfect with the 160 head and orignal bottem end. The engines are pritty much identical sensor wise other than that.

Also 50 shot of NOS.. is that a wise idea? will you be uprating the K series to cope?

ha wise idea, not sure what one of them is lol :chair: Am just gona hoy im on and see what happens! The rover is a second car and its just a bit of fun and if it pops it pops (which it will do).
The guy from WON says they've done loads of k-series with no problem and it'd take a 50 shot safe. i've got the full kit i took of my cupra so its just fittin am paying for. Rover ownership has not been a pleasant one for me if you read my past posts on here, its time to give the car back as much greef as its given me!
