View Full Version : TDR BRM @ Brands Hatch 14/05/09
Well what can I say except...............WOW!!!!
I'd never been on track before but can honestly say that is the most fun I've had in so long! The car performed faultlessly throughout making mincemeat of some supposedly more powerful cars.
The front Toyo's are pretty much lunched but apart from that she ran like a dream. Cornering ability is just amazing, power delivery is superb, just out and out awesome! Only thing now is to make it even faster
Thanks too to Welshone for turning up as well, you're a trooper :D
Anyhoo, here are some piccies and videos for your viewing pleasure....

Was that a 924 or 944 you were able to turn tighter than and then outdrag it up the straight?

Told you track days were fun mate. I know it's a trek but there's one at Anglesey in July if you are up for getting 2 BRM's on the track.
That'd definitely involve a trailer, etc. Unfortunately I don't have masses of holiday left from work so will have to pick my days carefully. But I have definitely got the bug!!

Excellent Ian!
Caterham's are a pain, but that green mini got gobbled :D
That looks great fun.
All of the brm's I have seen, without the factory fitted alloys I have disliked, in fact that's being polite, but to each their own...
However you have converted me, those straights in orange look absolutly fantastic!!!!!
Having said that the whole car looks fantastic, very well done, love it, love it love it!...

Adam, how scary is it turning into paddock hill bend?
I was down at brands a couple of weeks ago watching the A1GP and I was amazed at how steep it is - looks frightening!
Car looks awesome mate, fantastic job!
To be honest having never been on a track before the first few times through Paddock I shat myself. But when you get to learn the lines, gears and braking points it all comes together. When you get it right its the best feeling just thinking to yourself "Bloody hell i'm going fast!".
I must also confess to coming out of Paddock towards the end of the day going "weeeeeeeeeeeee" to myself :D
awsome dude, looks like a great day out, happy with the result? any improvements needed? sorry i couldnt make it bud, id only got back from italy, couldnt take the day off.
No worries Taff! Over the moon with how she performed. We were chatting about upgrades last night actually, will more than likely develop her more for now so reducing weight, tweaking suspension, improving handling, brakes, etc
But I really can't wait to get her out on track again, it was honestly worth every single penny, hour and drop of blood that went into her!
Fine work Adam, the car looks excellent!
Glad you enjoyed it - Paddock is stupendous, first time round on the bike was terrifying for me. Good fun in the old Metro too. I haven't been round for nearly 2 years now, must go again soon.
After a few goes, try telling your mind that there is no hill - it's quite strange but it works. Last time I finally managed consistent knee-down there*, just by the little kerbing section towards the top. Felt like Valentino Rossi, woo hoo.
If you get a chance to do Oulton as well then do it. And be prepared to skint, it's a terrible terrible addiction!:beer2::beer2::beer2:
* On the bike, not in the Metro. Although judging by the condition of the floor, knee-down would have eventually been possible in the Metro...

Reduce more weight?
How are you going to manage that... Have a hair cut or something? Not wear any socks?
Is there actually any more weight to be lost from the car?

Think he means fine tune everything on her at the moment and not add any more weight at the moment.

I've Provisionally booked, going to confirm it next weekend when I make sure the BRM turns over. It hasn't been started since October last year so fingers crossed.
Would be good to get a few there. It's a great day (as long as the circuit isn't too wet or it's like driving on ice).
