Its going to cost me an absolubte bomb to get them done at a garage..does anyone on here know enough about these cars to replace them for me.

I will supply all the tea you want and of course pay you, just not the £240 quid the garage want to do it!

I'd ignore it..but Im not stopping so well, even with the pedal to the floor. ;)

A local garage charged me £20 for fitting some new discs + pads to my old R25

If you get some pads yourself try getting a quote just for fitting. They might be trying to get Original Rover parts.

Its easy enough to do yourself if you have some common sense and tools if you are feeling brave! Bit to far for me to help im afraid. :(

WTF £240. i brought discs and pads (front and rear) for £160 delievered to my door..

They aren't that hard tbh for once i think the Haynes manual is usefull with these.

I'm not in your area, Ad may know of some other garages or people that can do them.

If you fancy a trip to West Kingsdown one Saturday I'll do them for you. Would you want to supply the pads or like me to source some?

You guys are the great! Thanks, I was pretty confident that sounded very steep!

Adam, thats really kind of you, I could get over to West Kingsdown, its not too far (about 30 miles I think) :o)

I honestly wouldnt have a clue where to start looking to fix them, Lame I know but Im using the "Im a girl" card.

If you can point me in the right direction of where to find them I will source some, I dont want to put you out even more and have you having to find them for me.

Thanks ! xxxx

Question now is.....do you want standard Rover parts, or uprated pads?

Standard Rover pads maybe try Rimmer Brothers......(0)1522 568000

Look at that - scholar and a gent.

There are many places you can try for pads.. personally if you are going for performance ones i do not rate the EBC green stuff pads, i thought the fit was naff and the material was only avge. I personally would look at Black Diamond or Mintex pads.

Brown and gammons is a great place to start, also some places like Euro Performance, Demon Tweeks or you might be surprised a local motor factor may do them (well they do round here).

Good luck in the hunt

Oh my god, I am seriously so clueless in all this!

This is my first car gentlemen! Imagine your explaining this to somone who's knowledge of cars begins and ends with is it shiny, does it go fast? And you wont go far wrong.

Essentially, Im looking for something to

a)make it stop

which b) doesnt cost a fortune.

At the moment, I only come to a complete halt if I stomp the pedal to the floor (whilst driving up hill, into the wind)...well..its not that bad, but its not far of the mark.

So.......? xxx

the above post by the way...probably explains why the monkey at the garage took one look at me and said the biggest number he could count to.

Have you had a look at your discs as well? Are they ok?

.....and I don't mean cd's :joker:

Ha ha! What..you mean you arent referring to my extensive back catalouge of westlifes greatest hits?

I just cant bring my self to listen to anything but theyre beautiful little irish melodies. ;)

Ha ha !

Ok, I havent had them looked at but the last service notes say "advise break pads worn" that was 19000 miles ago, so Im assuming they have truly had it now.

It passed its MOT less than 6 months ago so Im assuming that the discs must be in reasonable order.

Of course...knowing as much as I do about these cars and being as just plain new to them as I am, I could be making a huge mistake in thinking this is the case.

Over you you Adam?

Westlife?! Oh dear

Would have to really see the discs to see if they're worn. Take a photo of them and pop it up on here :D

I win - less than £100 for discs and pads (and I wouldn't be shouting about it, but I was after Mintex items and got them) after phoning an e-bay store (EZparts or something like that I think - I'll dig out the details if you haven't sorted it out already)

Nice to see a bit of banter going on.

That bl**dy westlife song is bouncing about my head now and I know it's going to take hours to get it out of there:wacko:

Hmm you might not Gary.. this was for front and rear... Black diamond discs and 1144 mintex pads...

Dutchess - that Ebay link Adam give is a great set, personally get a pic of discs up and we can see if they need doing as well.

And loose the Westlife.. Boyzone FTW:smile2:

I stand corrected - standard Mintex fare on mine.

How's the duchess got on with her brakes though?

Well...Ive ordered some from E-bay and Im going to go to Adam's place for him to get them sorted.

So thats that problem solved...all I need to do now is lovate my westlife CD for the drive down there, and its all good! ;)

Thanks guys!!!
