First off i know i havent posted much on here as of yet, had my BRM around 3 months now and fully enjoying it!

Not long after getting my BRM i had a flash of insipration about sorting a centre console out. So first off i had spotted a red leather seat covering on ebay, brand new for £10.99 so i purchased that ready to be used!

Then i had to set about getting a centre console, after scouring ebay and biding my time, looking for a black plastic one (and not an ash black plastic one) i eventually dropped lucky and got an immaculate one for £25

Once i had these two i popped to the upholsters and asked if she could cut up the seat cover and recover the lid of the armrest for me. I asked for the padded diamond shaped part to be covered down the middle of the lid and the plain leather to cover the sides of the lid! Picked it up today and she only charged me £10...........So all in for £45 and here's the finished article :-D

Now i did make one very slight oversight when i had this flash of inspiration, and it wasnt until i was installing it that it dawned on me! So before anyone points it out.......yes the recliner handles are on the insides of the seat and its now made them a little awkward to get to. It is still possible with the right technique, and if i'm honest when i bought the car i set the seat position up how i wanted it and havent touched it since, so the centre console is staying haha!

looks nice m8 but can you still get to your hand brake cable if it needs tightening or will you have to take center console out.

Cheers mate, yeah the handbrake cable can still be got at, just remove the plastic boxed sleeve which sits inside the centre console and you can get your hand right down to it ;-)

looks good..thought of doing that myself a few times along with adding rear headrest ...had a centre console armrest in my old vi which came in handy for extra storage..

Very nice touch. How much space is there in the armrest?

Hmmmm the amount of space isn't that great, handy for a phone and wallet i guess, you could get some CD's in there but not in cases, so they would run the risk of getting scratched if there was other stuff in there. I guess it will come in handy and i'll find out what its limits are...........on thought though is you know when you are on your jack jones and you go to KFC or the likes and get a meal and you always get a drink but have nowhere to put it, well i'm thinking the drink will slip nicely in as its quite deep and cure that problem :smile2:

Also i tend to lean over towards the centre of the car when im driving for some reason anyway, so i'll be leaning on it a fair bit i should imagine ;-)

You make a good point - there really is absolutley nowhere to put a drink in the BRM! the door pockets are form over function methinks!

Will the cup holders from a Mk2 MGZR fit in some where?
