View Full Version : What style OE wheel nuts do BRMs use?

My Rover 218 Coupe has had it's standard VVC rims replaced with Rover 45 'BRM style' rims, and I am unsure of which style OE wheel nut to use. My original VVC rims had the nuts with the loose collar, but I have just won some nuts on ebay (from a BRM apparently?), and they don't have a loose collar but a fixed one.

Any thoughts about which style I should use, or if you don't know, how can I find out?

Not sure about 'loose collar', but the BRM nuts have a 'cap' over them to make them look shinier. Bit of pig to get them off though because of this.

Yeah, both styles of wheel nuts have the stainless steel cap fitted.

In fact that's why I picked up the set on ebay, because a couple of my original nuts have a mangled cap from when the 'dick' at Kwik Fit didn't have the air gun on properly before using it!

I'm sure from memory that mine are have a loose collar but I don't know what difference it makes :)

Thanks Mark. ;)

I actually have both 'fixed collar' and 'loose collar' sets, but need to check what the angle is of each type, as apparently that could be the difference between the two? Will have a better look over the weekend and report back anything that I think might be of use.
