Will it fit basically...?

methinks the ZR160 manifold goes from the four branches straight in to one (at a pre-cat) before a single downpipe extends to the main cat whereas the older BRM and other bubbles go from four pipes to two then to one under and behind the engine sump.
A ZR exhaust can be made to fit with some tinkering, I'm sure Adam's posted details here or possibly on .org before.
The bit I find interesting is that a Janspeed performance exhaust will go from 4-2-1 . . . . . . . a bit like the OE MGR system;)
Someone with better knowledge than me will be along shortly I'm sure.

yh it will fit but you have to make a extension pipe as the manifold ends before it joins with the cat. so you have to make a short bit of a pipe with a 2bolt flange on one end and a 3 bolt flange on the other with a flexi section in the middle, then itll fit and your see some good gains from doing this as well

Thanks Gary it has answered my question, i thought the ZR manifold was 4-2-1, which was why i was enquiring.
Thanks

Just in case, I checked Bosal's UK version of their website (which doesn't have drawings for every version of every car - lack of petrol engined Rovers and MG's there) and you can see the differences between what we see under the bonnet of our BRMs and what ZR's with 1.8 engines have.
http://www.catalogue.bosal.com/pages/exh_system_list.php?query_nr=5&make=MG-ROVER&model=MG+ZR&body=All%20body%20types&cartype=1.8&fuel=B
