Okay anyone had this problem?

Lately when coming to a slow stop my ABS triggers and I get the clicky brakes, no warning lights on the dashboard it's just a moment of panic.

I'm figuring on taking the wheels off and checking/cleaning the connections but other than that is ABS an expensive thing to replace?

I would guess that the reluctor ring has become cracked. I had this on mine, basically meant that every time I braked the ABS kicked in, very annoying. They're quite easy to replace though.

Reluctor ring you say? I shall consult Rave!

When you say easy, how easy we talking? just a wheel off job or is it hidden behind the brake disc?

Ok, maybe not easy....well removing the ring itself is quite easy, but getting to it isn't. It's basically a ring on the driveshaft so there is some disassembly required :D

I thought there was something fishy when Adam first said it might be the wogglesprocket :hmm:

Anyhow because I'm lazy my car is in for the starter tomorrow so I'll suss my mechanic out about doing my reluctor rings if I supply the parts. :)

Back on a serious note, the reluctor rings are fecked so I've got the details from .org of a company in Leeds that supplies them, and my mechanic will fit them for me!

sorry to drag this up from the depths, but it appears my brm has started to give me this same issue. as i am not as lazy as mark, im going to do the job myself. removing the drive shafts is easy but from there im stumped. could anyone point me in the direction of a supplier for the reluctor rings as it seems this will most definatley be the issue, all the symptoms mark described in the original post are what im getting now.

many thanks, simon

Quick google revealed:

http://www.reluctorrings.com website (http://www.reluctorrings.com/cart.php?fn=add&id=ring&)

I don't know if they're best value though.

Here's an old one which may still be of help.
