Classic Car Show 2009

Well what can I say....a fantastic few days up in Birmingham looking at great cars and meeting some very interesting people!

New faces, old faces, happy faces, disgusted faces, puzzled faces, we had them all over the weekend. I've met a chap who put the wheels on our beloved BRM's and another who worked in the development team (strangely enough at a petrol station after the show). A young lad commented that he only liked "proper race cars, not one with big stupid scaffolding in the back" and another that his dad should make a computer game with BRM's in it.

Our engines were referred to as chocolate and bullet-proof by different people within minutes of each other. Some visitors only saw tarted up Rovers, others saw MG's, but an awful lot appreciated a future classic in the making and took great interest in the links with the BRM name and our efforts to keep it alive.

I have to say a big thanks to my old man for keeping me company on the stand over the weekend and driving the track car up (its not the comfiest on the motorway) and thankyou to everyone else that donated their cars to the stand (Kev, Mark and Matty) and also to my missus for tolerating my crazy obsession.

What were the neighbours at the NEC like? (OK - I'll come clean - I was looking at the stand layout on the website on Saturday and the existence of the gay classic car club at stand 4C60 made me smile - I really did think that there was already a car club for everyone out there - I was obviously wrong :) - I take it all around were petrolheads and a fair few stories were exchanged in the quiet moments . . . . . if there were any!)

Pretty pooped to be honest, but it was well worth it.

The neighbours were fine, although I think I only chatted to one person from their stand over the weekend. There was some controversy though and different opinions about their stand, watching people some wouldn't even walk near the stand. The majority of visitors and exhibitors that I spoke to were of the opinion that the event is about the cars, not your sexuality, so they should be with their reespective car clubs. But hey ho, at least it was easy to find our stand :D

WOW how jealous am i for not going.

My car would not have been upto the required quality.

The race car looks great in those graphics and the stand was immense.

The Cooper wheels on the other BRM seem to suit it well!

Glad all enjoyed and keep up the good work guys.

Looks like an amazing show! I really wanted to come but had far to much on at the same time and something had to go. I will be there next year, lets hope that we have a stand.
