Anyone seen it?

I went last night, luckily on an Orange Wednesday so the £8.50 wasn't such a shocker!

But I was truely blown away by the 3D! it's amazing and I'm feeling normal films are now going to look poor in comparision.

The story needed more work, the subplots where muddled, and it was a bit too long.

However visualy it was amazing.

There was a story?

I didn't miss the subtle moral undertones that most humans are *******s and we're killing our planet.

There was also subplots on the Iraq war etc etc.
Upon reading some articles after though it appers that it might even be a little bit racist...Hear me out. The natives (all voiced by black actors thefore modeled on them) couldnt orgainse themselves to beat the bad guys untill a white person came along and showed them how its done.
Now I think thats reading a bit too much into it but it did get me thinking!

I'm more of a face value sort of person and missed all of that

Saw it in 2D first and then again in 3D.

The story, characters, etc I loved. Just my sort of film (I am a geek) and I enjoyed every minute of it.

The 2D version was very very vibrant, colours were amazing in it and I would happily buy it on dvd in 2D only.

The 3D version did add a level of 'depth' to the film that was fantastic. It wasn't really in your face as most 3D films are but was very subtly done. Only criticism was that the glasses got a bit painful after a while.

Anyhoo, a thumbs up from me

I'd agree on the glasses point, I think they need to bring out something more comfy, maybe a wrap around type so you don't see the plastic rim in your peripheral vision.

Fantastic film I loved it, hope it comes out on DVD soon.
However, it really showed up the americans and big business for what they really are like. I agree with the sentiments about Irag etc.

Although it could show simliarities to Iraq, surely it's an age old story, someone has something someone else wants - it could be applied to hundreds of differenent wars.

Got to agree this was an amazing film. i didn't go for the story (a story that has pretty much been a movie staple for years), an I didn't go for sub-plots or rascism theories. i went for some of the most amazing back-drops, sets and scenes that I've ever seen in a film - and i certainly wasn't disappointed!

I saw the 3D version, but kinda wish I'd gone to see the 2D. Adam confirmed what i already though might be the case about it being more vibrant in 2D - i can't wait to get it on Blue-ray, it should look AMAZING.
If i'm honest i got a little distracted by the 3D, and didn't like it taking away from what i was really trying to look at, it went fuzzy at the edges too often for my liking too.

I went to see the new Sherlock Holmes movie a couple of days before too and thoroughly enjoyed it - VERY Guy Richie, but all the better for it. If you've not seen it then give it a go :)

I would describe it as flawed genius.
Flawed story genius visuals. Although I would not want every film ever made to look like that.
I am not alone on the racism thing..phew I thought I was going mad.

Post Christmas Depression=Justifiable.

Post AVATAR Depression= A load of eggboxes claiming they want to top themselves in the hope they will be re-birthed into a utopian land called Pandora where everything is how its shown in the film?

What is wrong with people?

I felt like that after i watched Anchorman, wanted to top myself so I would come back as a 1970's newsreader!

But thought Avatar was awesome!! Didnt really know what it was about so wasnt expecting much, my only dissapointment was seeing it at the IMAX in Greenwich, which Odeon if your listening, sitting people close to a screen that has a slight and i mean slight curve in it, is not an IMAX!

I heard Sheffield had one..although this could be myth and legend.

Post ANCHORMAN depression I can relate too.

If I get re-incarnated as anything other than Brick Tamland I will be bitterly dissapointed.

LOUD NOISES!!!

I love Lamp!!

I dont get the whole IMAX thing, i mean if anyone said to you you had to sit really close to the screen youd be annoyed and wouldnt want to go, but why when people put the word IMAX infront of it, people pay twice as much to see it!

I thought Avatar was okay, a bit ropey in places but okay overall. Saw it in 3D also. Still say Star Trek was the movie of the year last year and looks great on Blu Ray.

Star Treck fans depress me more than people who get depressed after watching Avatar.

I've heard good things about that Star Trek movie - mainly that it's not like a traditional Star Trek movie.

I hate Star Trek Usually (Star Wars all the way) but though the new one was excellent, very similar to Transformers as in just a good action film with good special effects and doesnt matter if you like the original

rovamota

I agree that Star Trek fans may well have done some damage to the franchise, but no one should be put off by that because it stands alone as a great movie.

Yeah, mainly 'cos exec producer Rick Berman (google him) wasn't involved with this one and it was given a decent budget!
