Do tell . . . . . what's the new job entail? Are we in 'dream job' territory or 'it'll do for now' or have you had a big hike in responsibility (and wages;))?

"LLongyfarchiadau" as we say down our way when speaking in hyroglyphics ;)

Yeah I called time on the musical career for now to concentrate on my day job.

Its close to dream job territory, the same job that I am doing now which I love but with more freedom, bigger accounts and I'll be sort of taking over running the UK side of the company which is awesome. A huge step up in wages and responsibility..So...Im a little bit excited...little bit terrified. :) :)

Nice . . . . errmmm . . . . .hummmmm

. . . . . . and what's involved in the new job again? I'm none the wiser - have we got a "what we do for a living" thread on here? If not - we'll have to start one . . . . . because I'm a nosey bar steward :)

Nose away..Im still figuring out the finer details of what my job involves...two weeks ago I finally learned how to use our databse correctly, which all seems a bit redundant now Im putting my notice in and moving on up.

The proper title is now Account Director (I know this because its on my business cards) and I work for a promotional merchandise company.

As far as I can gather so far it pretty much involves lots of going out for lunches with clients, being nice to the people who have budgets, along with playing with gadgets and toys and deciding if my clients would also like to play with them...maybe enough that they might buy a few thousand here and there and print their logo on them.

I also do boring stuff...like answering e-mails...writing creative briefs (the objective appears to be to fill pages with bull poo and corporate buzz words like "demographic" and "proactive") essentially I manage the promotional merchandise campaigns for my clients, source and buy merchandise, manage the print and look after my clients brand integrity... Badly.

However one skill I have gained is a freakish knowledge of promotional pens, there are like, 27 thousand types of pen and I can recognise most by sight...Im sure you will agree its a talent. ;)

So you convince people to buy stuff that's no use to them, then get them to pay you more to print their company name on it . . . . . . . all so they can give it away to people who don't bloody want it!

Seriously though - I think 'sales' is very much 'your thing' and I'm sure the job suits you down to the ground and that you will do well.

As for the ability to recognise 99% of the different pen types by sight - definitely a talent, bordering on being a super-power:super:

I could indeed get some BRM pens...I'm sure it would be no problemo.

Does anyone here have the BRM orange logo as an image file?

And as for selling sand to the Arabs...it takes somone special to convince the Arabs that they should pay extra to have their name written on the sand before they buy it ;)

Thats it really..along with a bit of designing, negotiating buying prices for large volumes of tat, and making sure no one f*cks up.

Mainly though, I read wierd news on the internet and play games, go to lunch and be late.
