Hi Guys,

Has anyone got any info on the best way to fit a lambda sensor? I've had the Manifold unbolted and slid half off and tried to get to the sensor without having to fully detatch it.

Is there an easy way to fit one of these or am i going to have to take the manifold off???

Any help would be very greatfully received as i hate doing mechanical work.... :pirate2:

Cheers

Luigi

You 'should' just be able to unclip the sensor from the loom end and then just unbolt it from the fanimold. They do tend to weld themselves into the pipes though so some brute force is required, just be careful not to round off the bolt!

The problem is how to access the sensor bolt...i can't get a spanner in behind the 'fanimold' and still have space to move it.

I'll give it one more try...but then i start pulling bits off... :@ lol

Aah, the old space issue. To be honest whenever we've removed one the exhaust has generally been hanging free anyway.

Not sure this is still relevent to anyone, but I have just removed my Lambda sensor without removing the manifold. Took a bit of tool searching. I found a 22mm ring spanner with the deep offset did the job (I think a 7/8 will be a pretty close fit). First I had to remove the plug from the end of the sensor wire and feed the spanner down the wire, the spanner then needs to be set vertically down so it hangs between the exhaust and alternator. From under the car I managed to rotate the lambda about a 12th of a turn (enough to move the ring spanner to the next position).
Bit fiddley but worked. Only trouble in my case, there was evidence of thread damage to the plug so I had to remove the manifold to retap it anyway. Bugger!!
For reference, the thread is M18x1.5.
Hope this helps someone.

You can do it without removing manifold. best way i found is to warm the engine up a bit WATCH YOUR HANDS! cut the wires slide a 22mm ring spanner over and off you go
