Hey, does anyone know where to get headlights for the R200 without the orange indicators, just clear then just the bulb is orange.

I know u can get them, i just can't find them anywhere; unless someone has just modded the lights themselfs and thats what i've seen.

Any ideas...

They're modified standard lights my friend.

Take the lights, heat them up either in the oven or with a hair dryer to soften the glue. Prise the lense part from the back of the light and this gives you access to the indicator orange part. Simply pop this out as its just clipped in there.

The hard part is re-sealing the lights as you have to be quite meticulous and use a good sealant/glue so that they dont condense every time it rains.

Bob's your uncle fanny's your aunt :D

Alrighty lads, I was looking for info on de-oranging process last week and came across the following links / guides which are very useful. The full tutorial is particularly good.

http://homepage.ntlworld.ie/technozen/html/headlight.htm

Full tutorial: http://homepage.ntlworld.ie/technoze...200_orange.zip

I'm going to try and get a hold of a set from a breaker and try it on them.... Hope this helps.

I will be de-oranging this weekend I think. Where did you guys get the orange bulbs from, and do they fit into the clear bulb socket ok? (i have just been told that orange bulbs have a different pin setup?!)

Noooooooooooo, dont get orange bulbs or you end up with the fried egg effect! Go for silvatechs, they look silver but flash orange if you get my meaning!

Where can i get silver techs from, and how much roughly?

Cheers!

I forget whether Halfords sell them or not. Try googling it to get rough prices, etc.

Reading the tutorial, it says that you have to remove the bumper before you can take out the head lights, is this true?!

Was going to do this today, but not sure i want to be removing the bumper!!

Removing the bumper..... its a piece of cake man. A bolt on either side just forward of the front wheel arch, 4 nuts on the top around the bonnet catch, 3 bolts and 6 screws underneath, 1 bolt behind the numberplate.

You'll need a 10mm socket for the bolts. Its a bit easier to access the bolts on either side if you turn the wheels. This is all made a lot easier if you jack the front of the car up but it is easily do-able without.

I had my bumper off last night in 10 minutes.. give it a go! Remember you'll need to unclip the wires to the foggies.

Hope this helps sir. :mml:

Be careful removing the bolts in the wings, last 2 times i've done this they've sheared off and I had to buy new plates from the dealers :slap:

I am now officially de-oranged, but OH MY GOD, did it take alot of effort!!!

the bolts on the bumper didnt want to come off, the nutts just kept spinnin and spinnin. Then had the same prob on the lighs themselves, then took about 3 hours to clean all the masick out of the lights!!!

Dont attempt this unless you have help and a full day to waste!

i do think it was worth it though, looks much much better imo!!

i de-oranged my lights on tuesday, i also painted all of the chrome bits apart from the lense black, they look good!!! i have replaced the orange bulbs with the chrome effect indicator bulbs, they light up orange but just add to the effect of the de-oranging when they are not on!!! i also added the old xenon effect main beam bulbs, stolen from a saxo at my m8's garage!!!!:cigar:
