i need a new catalytic converter, i found a 200 vi at a breakers near me but they wanted £90 which i thought was a bit steep.

i found this on ebay, looks like the cat is used throughout the rover range, it is very cheap but would it be any good?

thanks

it is very cheap but that dont always mean nasty!

why dont you de-cat it and buy this to shove on for mot time?

well the car is fitted with a decat pipe at the moment, fitted by the previous owner. ive had the car for 3 years now and have been very slowly restoreing it lol. all it needs for the mot as far a i know is the cat and new tires

getting back to leaving the decat pipe on, ive heard this can reduce bhp? is this true?

That will fit,the price is probably whats inside, but shouldnt hurt, probably better than a de-cat as Ive heard the K-series likes a bit of back pressure so the de cat is probably giving it no gain in performance anyway

i bought this cat and has arrived today, ive got a problem though, i was at my dads at the weekend doing a few bits to the brm, i took a look at the de cat pipe and from what i remember looks an awful lot longer than my cat that has been delivered.

i have also bought a new centre section i have loosely bolted it in place and seemed to fit ok.

does anyone know how long the cat should be?

and also is this the order of the exhaust

backbox, centre section, cat, downpipe, manifold

its annoying i cant keep the brm at mine car is 2 hours away so cant check for myself lol

This might helps - it's for a Timex branded system but parts should be the same.
