View Full Version : Very low idle and stalling
Anyone ever had problems with their BRM when you start it idles really low and stalls, or you'll pull up to a junction and instead of it returning to idle the rev's just drop and it stalls?
Now this happened before and its just happened again leaving work. Both times a wiggle of the wires has solved it, I believe its the crank shaft position sensor.
Anyone had this or got views on this problem?

Mine used to do that too, was when I changed to plug leads think I must have knocked something. It used to rev up on its own to like 1500 revs when stood in traffic then dip to about 300, never used to stall though, only if I'd be holding it on the clutch. My theory was the sensor on the throttle body sprayed it with some electrical cleaner and seemed to cure it!!

I have the opposite.
when I drive and have to stop for a red light or something like that I slow down, stop, put in neutral and in stead of 850rpm it makes 1500, somethimes even over 2000.

If you have the plastic throttle body, it is a well known problem. The only thing to do is change it for a 52mm metal one.

sounds like the idle control valve. but i'm not to sure where they are on the vvc inlet. think its one of the sensors next to the throttle body. these play up on all cars.
