Forza 3 Championship General Chat Thread

Here we are with the first official Forza 3 Championship held by members of theBRM.co.uk. There are places for up to 8 entrants and they will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

I intend to run the races on a Wednesday night at around 9:00pm, as long as there aren't too many objections to that time. By setting a dedicated time and place we all know where to be and when!

The championship is open to any car, but there are some limitations, the car must be:

Class A
PI of no more than 520
Have team racing colours

Some rules:

There aren't any, this is a race, if you get punted off the track then tough......but.....damage will be on Simulation, so rear-ending someone into a corner will probably put you both out of the race.

Suggested race line will be OFF
Autobrake will be OFF
STM will be OFF
TCS will be OFF

Probably stick to a 10 lap race so that it doesn't go on for hours, but I may change this depending upon peoples thoughts of the first few races.

Anyone can practice at any time, in fact I want people to get to know each others driving styles so it would be better if you could practice with each other when you're online.

I'll start a list of entrants, so please put down your:

Okay - can you let out any secrets on how to paint and get the logo's over as you seem to be more adept than me.

Done some tuning and down to 2.12 (just over) now.

The way I do it is to pick a base colour and decide on a graphic scheme. On the Leon, the BRM 'roundels' were quite hard and I made them up from lots of different layers and then saved the finished product as a custom logo. Mostly it's just trial and error.

The chequers for example, I laid the first one on then copied and pasted that layer (turning around if neccesary to make them go at a different angle) and moved them into position, zoom in and out to get them right.

If you want a logo going over the side/front/bonnet for example, I laid the logo on each part, had to resize to make them look right and laid them so the lines match up.

It just takes a lot of time really.

This is the reason for keeping the damage on simulation. Swapping some paint is fair enough, but remember, using another car as a handbrake will only result in your own car being damaged and make it very hard to drive.

Saying that, eat my exhaust fumes! :p

Though Mark might have referred me, doesn't mean I'll be willing to offer him any assistance in the races. I will say in advance that I might not be able to make all the races due to my hectic work schedule, but the ones I can make I promise to give it everything and make it a good 'un.

My car choice is to remain secret...and to whoever imposed the 520PI rule, I salute you! Means we won't have any of these leaderboard cars sweeping round the track.

Methinks I might be at a disadvantage being FWD! I'm still using my controller though for the first few races until I've had more practice with the wheel/pedals (and found a decent way to stop the pedals sliding away from me under heavy braking).

I'm running an RWD monster...managed a 2.01 last night with the braking line on...shot up to 2.04 without it. Mind you, I don't run any of the other assists so my car squeals off the line, slides through the turns and just falls to pieces around these AWD folk hehe.

Also, I don't mind taking photos from the saved replays. Mark's seen a couple that I took from when he first raced against me. Seem to enjoy the photography in the game.

Not all Xbox have the HDMI, you could use component if your monitor has them.

If you have a black one (Elite) then you will have it a white one (arcade) probably will not.

Took me a while to figure it out. You have to upload your pics to the storefront, then log into Forza's website using your xbox live login, and you can download your pics. I then uploaded to photobucket. There is probably an easier way, but I don't know it :slap:

Once the race is over, you'll get a screen saying "continue" and "save replay", before you go back to the lobby. If you save the replay, you can find it again under "My Profile" and then "My Replays" at the main career mode screen. Easy as that. Also, I had a 206 before I decided on the Firebird, good to drive but lacking top end power, managed to get mine to 356bhp with the AWD conversion. Still lacking around 150bhp compared to the Audi's, but I'm hoping the fact my car's nippy in the turns is going to help me tonight lol.

There's no such thing as the "wrong" car if you think about it. Leon's are quick through the turns and have a lot of punch for a fairly small car. Audi's are big and powerful, but also heavy, imparing the handling. Pontiacs are just a handful however you look at it. Simply put, one car's strength is another car's weakness. You'll be fine. :clap:

What you could do to try and make it more interesting is include additional rules, besides the ones already set forth. You could make it so cars must be either front or rear wheel drive so no-one goes belting off at the start and stays ahead (like the S5's lol). Also, having a pre-set list of cars to choose from usually helps in making the competition more...fair in a way. It's just a way of keeping tabs on what people use, so no super-saloons or toned down hypercars creep onto the grid. Just a thought :idea:.

But before that, as Mike said, I'm going to think of some more rules to make the field a bit more even. Maybe introduce a bhp limit. The list of cars sounds good too, perhaps go for a DTM theme for the championship, so big saloon cars.....

Thanks Guys, last night was great fun; & like you say passing an R1 or Cayenne on an oval at top speed in Tag was very funny as was ramming the hell out of each other in Dodge Rams, Q7's, X5's :laugh:

I think the idea of similar cars and BHP etc is a good idea otherwise cars like the S5 have a distinct advantage. DTM or Aussie Supercars are always fun?
Perhaps even nominate a specific car for a specific challenge: like an SL65 or MX5 only race?

Renault Clio RS 197 - B500 PI. "Piddly's Revenge!"

No Aero
No Conversions.

Paint can be anything so long as your runing number is clearly visible on each door, the "Renault Sport" numberplates on the front and rear numberplate recesses (available from my storefront for free), and your windows are NOT tinted.

If done right the car should have a PI of 500, with 288bhp and 231 lb-ft of torque. Due to the nature of the tune, the only things that can be adjusted are gear ratios, brake pressure, tyre pressure and the Diff settings. The car itself is easy and fun to drive, packs quite a punch and handles relatively well. Also because there's not alot you can tune, the race would boil down to driver skill alone in most cases. It's jst an idea that I was toying with last night and this morning, what do you think?

Lol, the BRM championship is the one where your cars should be at 520, Clio's are around 500, top end of B class. If you scout back a couple of pages, there's a full guideline I posted on the upgrades for the car. Minimal tuning is needed and makes for some good racing.
