Well my BRM ownership hasn't got off to the best of starts.
Cars been parked up for a couple of weeks on ym drive. Keyfob was working fine before hand, came to get in it this morning and it wouldnt unlock the doors. So i unlocked it with the key and the car unlocked, i opened the door expecting the alarm to go off but it didnt' so i tried starting it. But all i get it the imobiliser beep but the keyfob wont turn it off.
So i thought maybe keyfob battery was flat, so i changed it and nothing. So tried reprogramming it the proper way it says in the Rover handbook and still no joy.
Only problem i have now is i dont have the EKA code either to turn the imobiliser off so the cars stuck there and i've got no way of starting it. :(

i had this problem the day after i got mine. it turned out the metal connector inside the fob was abit dodgy so i bent it inwards abit and hey presto! it worked.

Well i've swapped the ecu/5as and fob i had spare from a vvc coupe and it works. Only problem is i dont want to keep it on as the 5as box isn't the proper one. Doesn't have the plug for the indicator flash or interior light delay on locking.
So the BRM fob as either lost its memory or its buggered.

The spare fob on my BRM seemed to 'forget' its only purpose in life too!
Can't remember exactly how, but I fiddled about (having unlocked the car with the working fob) with the key in the ignition (can't remember if it was pos I or II) and pushed the buttons on the non-functioning fob (don't ask me whether it was lock or unlock) and it started working again - no reprogramming - no change of 5AS - no spending money on diagnostic checks - just fiddling with the buttons.
. . . . . and having read that again, I think it qualifies as the crappiest "how to" ever written :D

I had this problem on my car, Try pressing lock followed by unlock at least ten times (I think this re synch's the fob to 5as). This worked on mine, Also check the soldered joints for the battery holder inside the fob the one that holds the battery down, as this may have broken and not powering up the fob.
If this don't work you can try a guy called Ian who runs a company called I.R.B Developments he has the diagnostic tool and is able to do ECU to 5AS
re-programming and he is based in Tamworth, will also be able to give you EKA code.
