Noticed that one of the bolts that attaches the downpipe to the engine block has sheared off on my engine. It is one of the two that are near the sensor that is inserted into the manifold.

The bolt head is long gone (no idea why) and I am left with one bolt holding the bracket on and another with half the bolt still threaded in!

Has anyone ever seen or heard of this happening. I am currently exploring options to get it removed and then replaced but this will cost £150 plus for just the one bolt due to the work involved to remove it.

Sheared bolts are a tough one, theres no exact rule as they all require different ways of getting them out.

If you can get on the end of the bolt it may be possible to get it out with some mole grips/adjustable grips. Make sure you lube it well before hand with lots of penetrating fluid so its got the best chance of coming out.

its more likely to come out if its hot aswell. but it does mean getting your hands burnt on the manifold!
