My BRM seems to be down on power! The performance seems very lacklustre and in traffic jams (between 1200/1800 RPM) she keeps kangarooing! Any ideas?

You don't have an 'open cone' type air filter do you? Heat soak, especially in this weather, could cause the problems you're having.

I have one of those. And My BRM is doing the same thing.

Solition is obviously going to be to change it but what too? ta.

may be a few people round this site that have done a large air filter upgrade and no longer need the top of the box and pipe so perhaps a post in parts wanted, otherwise its e bay.

Silly I was going to write more but realised even an air filter could end up complicated

What about doing something else with it? an Induction kit or something? Is that a stupid question? will I still need the top of the airbox?

My friend made one for his Honda out of a sheet of offcut metal he found..bad idea good idea? I could ask him to make me one?

I think you're thinking of a heat shield, you'd prob need to get some ducting in there to channel cold air to the filter though as it'll still be taking in warm air from the engine bay.

Nah it was definitely an Airbox...because he knows what he's doing and he explained to me that it was an Airbox, and what its job was...

What about one of these as an alternative?

Is this pointless, will it give any better performance and will it still need the top of the plastic air thingy?

Nevermind...apparently they are only Binworthy according to Mr Young.

Back to the drawing board.

Yeah isn't the cone type induction kit what you've already got? the other one is just basically enclosed in a heat sheild and has a direct air feed to avoid taking air from the engine bay.

Not heatsoak...Thank god, as the one I've got was not cheap and has a cold-air feed.
Problem turned out to be fuel filter!
Fitted new one yesterday and the performance is back Hopefully I'll go back up to 300 miles/tankfull too!
