My car won't start this week, when I turn the key it just clickety, clickety clicks is that just the battery or something more sinister, I know I don't use it much but I do like it to start when I want it to

Sounds like a flat battery, only other thing that could cause it to click is the starter motor failing to engage.

Need to charge the battery or try and jump start it,then get someone with a multi metre to check the alternators charging the battery.

If doing this it keeps clicking, suspect the starter motor,if after charging/jump starting the car and the alternator seems to be charging ok,suspect battery if it goes flat again

I'm thinking starter motor too, it's on the right side of the engine - give it a whack with a spanner, may get you started if it's sticking (but you'll still need to replace it as sure as poo sticks)

It will more than likely be the battery, the sound you can hear is the starter solenoid being energized but not enough power to turn the engine over.

Yup! I reckon it will be the battery too!

I had the same thing a few weeks ago, trying to start but only a clicking sound, knew for sure it wasn't the battery as I had just parked the car.
Somebody rolled his mini-van into my car while I was gone and I initially suspected the Emergency fuel cut off had been engaged but that wasn't the case
After a bit of fiddling I narrowed it down to the immobilizer....at the end it turned out to be a loose connection from the immobilizer to the starter motor. Quickly fixed by cleaning the connection and tightening the little plug-thingy connected on the starter motor. (if I remember correct: a grey wire.....it's a bit of a pain to reach though!)

Luckily the rolling minivan left no more damage than a scuffed licenseplate.
