I'm (still) shopping around for a replacement CD player and was wondering about the existing controls on my BRM's steering wheel.
Some units advertise OEM steering wheel remote compatibility, but I'm not sure whether this just means compatible between 'their' equipment.
Has anyone bought a head unit that is compatible with the steering wheel controls ?
I've got my eye on the Alpine CDA-9883R or Clarion DXZ778RUSB.

All will need individual looms that adapt the current rover wheel remote to the manafacturers headunit. For the Alpine you are looking at an additional £40 for the cable.
I have an alpine and haven't bothered with the wheel controls.

I got a Kenwood flip panel head unit and to be honest I can turn the volume wheel without taking my hand off the gear knob. The only time I really use the controls is when I'm on the motorway and need to turn the volume up due to the road and engine noise.
