Hiya peeps
i noticed a few days ago that my beloved zr spoiler had a little secret hidden from all but the most trained of eyes. i noticed that the fin part was actually seperate from the rest of the spoiler itself and not moulded together in any way. so, i decided to take it off and have a gander. low and behold, 3 screws and a bolt held each side of the fin section to the main part.
eureka!!!! i thought maybe, just maybe, i could actually remove the fin and attach it to a standard original brm spoiler so i would have a nice 2 tone zr spoiler! some drilling and swearing later i managed to sucessfully fit the fin to the original spoiler and it looks awesome..............................(oh and i fitted some competition mesh to the front aswell)..................

and the mesh.................
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv216/vikandsi/mypictures186.jpg
please note that this is a mk1 zr spoiler and im not sure if the mk2 is the same.
Much better than all silver  You're right, the mk2 spoiler with the centre fin is all one piece so can't be separated.
Bottom mesh is a no-no for me though. I'm surprised with you working in Halfords now you didn't get some of the Ripspeed Competition Mesh, which is the same as that in the top grill.

well the only reason ive done the bottom that way is because im doing a face off grill and it has that same mesh behind it.
that mesh is actually from halfords and cost me £6 for a £24.99 sheet.

to be honest, whilst the zr spoiler was in bits i had to put the original back on and i kind of liked it better without the zr spoiler. but hey ho! i have an original and a zr spoiler now to chop and change when i feel like it.
 that mesh makes me sad.

Reminds me of the grill mesh I put on my coupe, that had tomcat in the middle, thinking of meshing mine with whatever I end up using on the grill
It's ok Si, when you drop the car off for the HG I may tinker with it

Mesh fail in my opinion :(
But you've kinda made the spoiler a little less of a spoiler, so it's not all bad. :)

I'm sorry SI but I really don't like that mesh behind the bumper intake.....I'd rather see the same mesh as in the top grill but in black.

Standard spolier FTW
Thats the way i'm heading now, as you already know.
But Si, mesh is a fail, its gash. IMO. Even if you do the top grill in the same it'll just cheapen the front end. That mesh is for Saxo's alone

oh well lmao. as long as MY car pleases ME then thats all IM worried about lol!
to be fair, i like it when people dont like what i do to my cars because it means they wont go and do the same!

When you're ready to buy mesh Alan, let me know and I'll go halves on the price as I think there's more then enough to do more than one lower grill.
(as long as you're getting competition mesh that matches the upper grill ;))
Nope, one sheet of the Competition Mesh does one lover grill as it takes up most of the sheet :(

I haven't got time to read this whole thread right now.
Have we already done the "What the hell is that behind the grill?!!" question?
Because if we haven't...we should. Really.

behind the grill you will find the radiator which houses the water to keep the engine cool when its hot.

thats wierd because the mesh i have on my lower mouthpiece is the same size sheet as the competition mesh and i have enough to do another lower grill aswell!!
and it wont be 20 notes as you can no longer use £1 notes to pay for things, but with you being an old tight fart mark, i wouldnt be surprised if when you open your wallet (last time 1978) there is a fat wedge of £1 notes sitting in there! lmao
Ah, when I did it there was only enough for 1. I did leave some overlap around the edges so it may have been because of that, but I think you're cutting it fine for 2.

Yes I've been saving all my pound notes up ever since I was born because one day I knew I'd meet a man with such an awesome collection of eighties memorabilia that he'd only ever part with it in exchange for some currency of his favoured decade.
Luckily I have such a collection of ancient paper, so I can make him an offer and finally get my hands on the world's largest collection of Yuppie tat ............. and then burn it all ....... and get Kgar to wee on the ashes.

Ive just noticed Alan spells my name with an "ie" and not a Y on the end.
So not only can none of you chumps spell my Forum name which has now been changed to SOV anyway (Thanks Si)
But my real names been mucked up too.

Big improvement on your old spoiler but still needs to be Orange or standard :trampoline:
& as for the lower grill
But if it works for you then that's all that counts but you have now damaged a standard spoiler if you ever want to put it back to standard :(
