Point and Laugh

Something funny happened other morning on the way to work. I noticed a very glum looking chap lent against bus stop. As I approached him his face cracked and his grim grew into to laughter. I can only assume he was laughing at the my BRM as I was the only car on the road, and he was looking straight at me.

Then yesterday a group of 3 man, saw me in a park car, and stood waiting at the exit, and were pointing and laughing at it, as I drove out.

I found both of these a events quite funny, and felt good about cheering up the grumpy man at the bus stop with my "clown" car as someone calls it at work.

I know not everybody knows what these cars are, and just think some tool has painted the grill orange, and the trims silver. So I was just wondering if anyone else had any funny stories of people reacting to their BRM's.

Police stopping me for speeding, came up to me & opened the passengerdoor. And while he looked inside his mouth dropped and a "Wow" came out. We spend the next 10 minutes chatting about the BRM & cars in particular and he totally forgot to give me a ticket or telling me off for speeding (and I wasn't particular going slow).

Result!!:smart:

But all in all people seem to react very positive to the car, always smiling & pointing.
And now with the World Championship Football on its even more funny because everybody assumes the grill is painted for the football (Orange = the Dutch national color).

my ol boss called it the mr blobby car as the grill looks like his teeth apperantly!

im getting fed up of explaining the reason behind it now and i now just give them a simply si simply smile!

i was one of those people who thought someone randomly painted the grill orange!!
It took the purchase of a zr and then a general interest in all things rover/MG for me to realise what these cars are! lol

I always look at other mg rovers coming the opposite way and one day I noticed the driver of a 214 wedge looking and laughing ,presume that was the why have you painted the grill orange syndrome,the missus always says as I drive with her in car that everyone stares at this car

I get it all the time round by me.

Especially the reps when they overtake me, only to be annoyed when i'm sat on their rear bumper laughing back at them cos they cant shake off a poxy rover with an orange grill!!!

I think it was last year I was going along the seafront when a guy jumped into the middle of the road and took a photo of the car. Luckily I was slowing down for some traffic lights.
I'm going to miss people looking and smiling at the car.

I know what you mean, I kinda laugh but to myself when people laugh at the car. Because I think your sad "you know know nothing!". But then realise it might just be me thats sad! lol :fish:

Well I had a friend with me last night, and after taking the piss out the BRM, he got to experience, both highs and the lows of BRM ownership, all in a 20min trip. Firstly the high, the joy when we spotted another BRM coming in the other direction, sad I know but I got all excited, the first one I've past since owning the BRM didnt know what to do with myself, wave, flash or what. The old boy driving the other one, was made up too, he was all smiles.
The low, 2 lads, at the side of the road, with a full on point and laugh. My mate nearly wet himself laughing, I found it quite funny too.

I loving owning a BRM if your not making your own day driving it, your making somebody elses laugh at you!!! :-)

Also a guy in an Aston Martin drove past me the other day and it was dark green with an orange mouth...he gave me a bit of a "awww bless your trying but this is how its actually done" kind of look. :(
