hi
well my hand brake was shit and its in for MOT next week so i wanted to sort it this week/weekend, so i thought id treat myself to some new disks and pads all round. the reason be hide that was i thought it would widen the rear callipers out enough to make the handbrake adjustment work enough to get a good hand brake, well good enough to pass a MOT.
anyway, iv come to change the disks and pads on the rear and i can see why it wasn’t working now. the two pins that allow the two sides of the rear callipers to move in and out, still with me. well one of them is sized tight and i mean tight, i spent 15 mins with a spanner over then end of it hammering it down, with no joy. so i thought heat, so i got it red hot and sure enough managed to get the sliding pin out but this melted the rubber dust seal.
so my question is, where can i get these rubber dust seals from.
i managed to get a part number from a local dealer but he said it need ordering in and it would be a week before he got it in. id like to sort it this weekend if poss. so would any one on here know where i can get a some, be it from a old calliper someone has laying about or what ever.
Part no. SEE000080 if someone could check this for me to make sure it would be good.
sorry for the long question, but its quite hard to explain.
Regards
Jordan

I had a 100 mile old rear caliper and the seller left the pin in (handbrake cable cut) even after it had been in such a short time and I had it in a workshop,I struggled with the pin for ages,I have a spare pin now but pity I didnt keep the old caliper maybe someone has one they can post you

I think that all Rover 200s and 400s (All R8s including cabbies and coupes, bubble 200s and HHR 400s), MG ZRs and ZSs with rear disks / calipers are all the same expect for the ZS180 and ZR160 - both of which have larger diameter discs. The little rubbery grommet thingys should also swap over nicely.
Google Big Red caliper refurb kit and you should get some results that may help. Don't know about prices though.

Try Maple garage at Sproutly or Richardson Ford in Driffield - I think they're the only X-part dealers in the area, failing that go to the Rover breakers http://www.roverbreakersukltd.co.uk/ see if they've a decent 2nd hand set.
Or even http://www.cchl.co.uk/ on bankside.

Sounds like a fair comment to me - I despise the things with a passion - fugly looking things.
The 25 / ZR section has plenty of fun to it and there's a lot of good guys there, but it seems to be full of youngsters who want to spend the £20 that's burning a hole in their pocket on 'performance upgrades' for their ZR105 instead of replacing the brake pads that are completely worn out:sad:
