View Full Version : Build numbers. Why is it so secret?

I reckon we should be able to find out our build numbers without joining the Club. It's a bit of a carrot to get people to join up just for that. When I had my first BRM in 2001, I emailed Mat who ran roverbrm.co.uk back then and he emailed my build number back to me. Why can't it be that simple?
Although I'm an enthusiast I have no intention of joining the Club, so I'll never know what BN my current BRM is.
Kev.
I share your annoyance with this issue my friend and have gone to great lengths to obtain the database from somewhere other than the OMC. Unfortunately they seem to be the only ones with it and are reluctant (to say the least) to give it out.
If i could get a copy of the database then I would give out the build numbers for free, I believe its the right of every BRM owner to know the number of their car as it was such a limited edition and there aren't that many left.
Rant over  :D

i printed off the forms 2 weeks ago to send off and then recieve my build number, the only reason why i havent bothered is because i think the club looks pants and i dont get anything from the club. i havent paid much attention to their site because i am only ever on this one but it seems to me that they never organise any event or meets of any sort
thats why i want to say thank you to Adam for the effort he puts in because this and what you have done is so much better
Cheers Warren. I'm still hunting for the build number database from other sources that may have it, so hope is not completely lost. ;)

I would happily join the Club if I felt it had something to offer, but Owen is too focused on racing and rallying, which I'm not interested in. But we all know that with the arrival of the internet we can organise anything via this forum, which is what most enthusiasts do these days. MG-Rover.org and Retro Rides are good examples.
Kev.
Your right there Kev. We've had some succesful meets all organised through the net now. I even have some phone numbers of owners that don't use the net and keep them informed of events that we are planning so they don't miss out.
I was subscribed to the club for about 2 years, but the magazine was a bit stilted and as you said only catered really for rallying/racing.
Along with another owner we recently petitioned the MG register to allow the BRM membership into it ranks, due to them allowing the Frogeye Sprite recently we felt the BRM's ties to the ZR are incredibly similar to the Sprites ties to the Midget. Unfotunately our proposal was refused, but we're still working on them ;)
were all the brm's built at the same time?
were all the brm's built at the same time?
If your thinking whether the chassis numbers follow sequentially I dont believe that they do unfortunately.
