Adam

Well assuming No1 and 2 were registered close to each other, No1 being registered first and my plate is S974WOM, then that's got to be No1. :D

Wonder if there are any stored BRMs with hardly any milage out there?

I can see the logic in that, when you going to buy it then.

I have done a little research on this:smartass:

S960WOM, S961WOM, S962WOM, S963WOM, S964WOM are all BRM's then it jumps to your's Adam S974WOM.

S962 being the one for sale S963 is the one Top Gear tested.

So i don't know how they worked out the build no.s, even in chassis no. order it's still not clear when your's is no. 2.

S961WOM 345665
S964WOM 345666
S960WOM 347200
S963WOM 347201
S962WOM 349115
S974WOM 355049

So i don' know how they worked out the build no.s.

It would be interesting to see the build no. list.

Completely confusing, I've got a 2000 W Reg with the Chassis No's 391747 which according to the Owens certificate is Build No 11, I dont know because it has A/C whether these went down the line as a seperate run but under the bonnet its got some odd stickers which make it look like an early model. The master brake cylinder for instance has a yellow sticker on it marked "BRM Build 1"

Mines 443723 and that was registered a 1999 V-reg. I reckon BRM's must have been built at random.

I think mine's relatively early because it's a T, but that probably doesn't mean squat!

How random, if only I could get that build number list

For all we know the Owen Club have just been throwing out build numbers willy nilly.

the build numbers and reg plates prob won't match because many dealers didn't register cars till they sold. like the 02 plate brm, for all we know that could be number 1. strange! :hmmm:

Jon_A
10-03-2007, 07:17 PM
Hmm mine could be number one then hehe. I suppose it is likely number one could have been written off by now.

is there really an 02 plate BRM?

is there really an 02 plate BRM?

If you mean is No2 BRM around yes it's Adam's. That's if you belive Owens build list which at the moment seems very shaky (sorry Adam) It would be nice if a member of the Owen team could shed some daylight on the whole thing.
Gary BRM 245 ar 326 or 764 or ???

blimey that would have been sitting around for while then. would be nice to have a late registered one. mine was registered in january 2000. i think im going to have to join that owen motoring club to find out my number had the forms for ages but havent got round to it. what about the last brm? where is that?

brms were never popular at the best of times.

i find it very hard to understand why, i remember when i when i was 15 and saw one up close for the first time i just fell in love with them

I remember seeing my neighbours and wondering what the hell that ghastly grill was. It'd be a nice car aside from that...

5 years later... I own it?!?

rovamota

I saw it when it was launched at the 1998 Motor Show at the NEC, got a bit of it on my camcorder as well, but it was the then new Rover 75 that was getting the attention.

has anyone had their BRM from new?

Jon_A
10-05-2007, 01:17 PM
The reason I got mine was because of realizing how good they actually are. When I had my Rover 25 I looked into other fast mg/rovers but the brm just stood out as I really think it is a good looking car even with the orange grill, which sadly most people think is ghastly.

I can understand why people think it doesn't look good, but I feel that it was not sold on the racing heritage enough and is a good celebration of the original BRMs.

I first saw one back in '99 and thought they looked OK but couldn't even drive then

The BRM's were sent down the line totally at random.. The Owens group you talk about are chucking some suspect numbers around..

If we want to get dead dead techincal number one died (the vehicle in the early press shots) was used as a bit of an on site hack and met it's death at Gaydon test track (mangled remains were around the back for a fair few years).. and there is one at Mira as well but with no reg plate.. would guess that has to be far up the order?

**Warren**R200
10-05-2007, 04:53 PM
so would it be a waste of time me paying £15 to find out my number?

Jon_A
10-05-2007, 08:20 PM
Not really worth doing unless you have an early S reg.

rovamota
10-05-2007, 08:23 PM
I guess you anyone could have a list of numbers from 1 to 795 and as each person asks for their build strike off a number at random until they've all gone. Is that what's happening?

Kev.

Jon_A
10-05-2007, 08:29 PM
If it is then thats pretty disgraceful.

Dom
10-06-2007, 08:09 PM
hmm... well if chassis numbers are sequential (even if all BRM's weren't built at the same time)... can we not just sort the chassis numbers off the build numbers we know and see if that correlates?

Chewey
10-10-2007, 12:40 AM
Sounds like a good guess. Can't see why it wouldn't work. Shall we all post up our chassis numbers?

Dom
10-10-2007, 11:29 AM
I don't know my build number so not much point for me!
