Ive done a search on here for door speakers........but nothing "recently"! posted! Basically I just put in a Sony stereo with u.s.b and i-pod .Only trouble is....its just reminded me that the passenger doors speaker is rubbish! (its "blown!"? if you know what I mean!?).
SO!!! whats the best (I mean easiest!. ie no bodging etc!) speakers to fit in?
I want something that will fit in "just like that"!. So if anybody has any ideas (give me a link and Ill be deliriously happy!! lol). please fire ahead!
Also I presume its just take the door-cards off to replace them? Cheers in advance guys!

I have no idea if there are any brand-speakers that fit in the doors but you can always take them out, measure them and see if Conrad (http://www1.conrad-uk.com) or a similar shop have ones that fit.

If you get custom fit speakers for the front you will not be able to fit the tweeter in your door as the crossover is built into the old rover speaker,so you would have to do without or buy speakers with a crossover and tweeters, and also steer clear of matching a Sont unit with bright speakers I and someone else I know made that mistake, the sony units are quite bright to start with,Ill give you a better reply later when Ive got more time to sit down

Your speaker size in 16.5/17cm,your unlikely to get after market ones where you wont have to drill holes

something like this will be Ideal

I thought the tweeters just had capacitors in line on the wiring?

From what I was told as I wired straight from the speaker if you put in another speaker you will need a crossover unit or you will just be effectively wiring a small speaker rather than a tweeter, apparently the crossover is built into the original speaker

When you take out the tweeter there's a capacitor in series with it - I'd assumed this was a basic passive crossover to filter out the low frequency to the tweeter?

Cheers for that fellas! There is (are!) a pair for sale on .org from a 25. Looked on Rimmers, apparently they are same fit as a 200?
OR! are the 200 door speakers different to the ones in a B.R.M?
Sorry for all questions! but with this new stereo, the old duff speaker is showing (sounding even!) up even more! lol!

I wouldn't image them to be a diff size - I think they just got tweeters as they went up the spec range

They seem to be all the same size right across the 200/25/ZR range

I'm now stripping down my old door on my BRM, think the speaker still works.

I tend to set the balance to just the rear speakers anyway. Less distracting.

Rather listen to the engine to be honest.

And the speaker works. PM me if interested.

speakers in my brm sound quite nice, rears especially, quite punchy and crisp at good volume.
Only using a old sony xplode with 3.5mm phono plug on the front, nothing like the clarion dvd unit i used to have (nice sound!)

which leads me to my slightly off subject question.... did they ever upgrade the speaker systems (like they do with other cars....eg. bose systems)??
was the 6disk changer under the passenger seat too? i have mounts in the carpet for something under the seat

Nopey, the official fitting point was under the rear speaker shelf on the passenger side. There was a special metal cradle that fitted there, I still have the cradle but removed the changer as it was redundant with my new HU. Still got my Dire Straits CD in it :(

I got some from a 25 in the end! Fitted straight in. I did replace the rear speakers last year too, they were nothing special! (cant even remember the brand!). They cost about 18 quid if I remember rightly!(rear ones that is! I paid 12 quid for the front ones !).
