I am about to buy a new CD player (yes I know I said that 4 months ago !) and was wondering how easy it is to fit it yourself.

I'm looking at a Pioneer DEH-P7900UB http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/pioneer-dehp7900ub-p-5802.html

It says that it has an ISO connection. Does the BRM support ISO ? If so, can I just pull the old head unit out and plug the new one in ?

yup, you are lucky! will be a simple pull out, unplug old unit then plug in new unit job!

When i bought my DVD player, I had to make an ISO connection by cannibalizing old players! took me aaaages!

Yeah, it's ISO as standard (had my radio out today this morning). Can't remember if ignition/live need swapping, don't think so.

Got my new CD/USB player delivered to work today. It looks fantastic. Does anyone know how I can get the old standard Rover head unit out ? It appears to have two panels on either side with holes at the top and bottom ?

I'm desperate to get my new unit working and enjoy some decent music while I drive. If I can't find some kind of tool that undoes it by tomorrow morning, I'm going to have to try using my teeth !

Yes mate. If its the one with a hole in each corner, i've used four ink straws out of a couple of biros before. Shove them in each, you should feel them give a little and out she'll pop. Hope this is helpful.

There are proper radio removal tools that will make the job a lot easier you will probably get them from most accessory shop for only a few quid.

I used Chewey's pen idea and it worked a treat ! I've got the new unit fitted and it worked perfectly first time. I christened it with Armin van burens new album. It sounds brilliant and the display lights up the inside of the car with this deep blue aura. Its made driving my BRM even more fun.

Cheers,

Tom

Dom,

Opps, I actually meant Armand Van Helden. I got mixed up with Van Buren's "state of trance" radio show. I like that too though.

Anyway, Van Helden's album is called "Ghetto Blaster" and its very good. It also includes a DVD, while has some great videos, all of which seem to contain a large number of scantily clad women. Which is always nice.
