View Full Version : Airbox styling
I have an airbox for the ITB's on my road BRM that will need modifying to fit around the brake master cylinder, it also is a bit scruffy from where it was fitted to an Elise previously.
Now I'm thinking of having it vinyl wrapped after it's done to tidy it up a bit, but rather than just have a flat colour I was thinking of maybe some sort of design....but what....it looks a bit like this at the moment (but black and scuffed up):

So do I put some sort of BRM tribute design/picture on it to make it a bit different?

I would be tempted to see it painted along with a whole engine painting scheme myself,After my couple of years on the forums Ive started to notice this trend for vinyl wrapping although still popular start to show signs of it not lasting and many things people have covered begin to blister away,a lot of this seems to come down to the fact that vinyl always wants to return to its original flat state and if not heated around a product properly will come unstuck
If it comes off I'd just get it re-done again. I don't really fancy painting it, wanted something a bit 'snazzy' looking.

Make it look like a turbine as a tribute to the original Rover-BRM turbine car. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rover-BRM)
That could be quite funky Bart :D

Black and scruffy. Then if it peels and bubbles you won't notice so much

What material is it?? Aluminium?
I'd make some sort of plaque with build no./reg no./bhp figure and then weld it to it, then polish the chuff out of it!!

with that shape, it can't be that hard to make it look like a hot-dog under the bonnet . . . . :D

It's fibreglass, so polishing is a nono I'm afraid.

What about a poll of all the suggestions with Adam commiting to the winner? :)
