Yeah, it was cool to see all those BRM's and meet the owners together, and the view in my mirror as we all pulled out of the Heritage centre was a sight to behold. Great looking car the 200 BRM.

Kev.

I've just text Adam apologising for not making it thinking today's Saturday! Hmm... little too much sangria last night.

Sorry I missed it chaps, got struck by the dreaded head gasket failure yesterday :(

Photos look like it was a good 'un too

Didn't get much of a chance to post yesterday when I got home so here I go...

The morning started at half 6 for me, woken up by an annoying alarm clock in the pitch black. Eventually left my house around half 7, the weather was chilly and very overcast but no rain had fallen during the night to spoil all the cleaning i'd done on Friday. I headed for the motorway thinking it'd be clever to ignore the satnav and go northbound round the M25 to the M40 instead of Southbound as it suggested. Hitting the motorway my first snag appeared, Junction 2 on the M25 was closed due to a very helpful lorry jacknifing itself across the road, so onto the back roads.

Eventually getting onto the motorway at J1 and through the tunnel gave me a nice oppurtunity to put the window down and listen to the exhaust roar through the tunnel :D From there it was clean sailing all the way till about 15 miles from my first stop off at Cherwell Valley services where I hit a slight snag....

Being the brave man that I am I decided to risk it and got to the services with fumes in the tank to wait for Phil and possibly Pete (didn't know if he'd received my text or not). So onto a really healthy breakfast to keep the energy levels up for the day ahead...

http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e158/brm_ski/Rover%20BRM%20Meet%20at%20Gaydon/27102007001.jpg

Phil and Pete both turned up before half 9 so we decided to get underway up to Gaydon. I'd forgot how much fun it is travelling in a convoy of BRM's, its a fantastic site! Getting to Gaydon shortly before 10 we found Neil already in the carpark and started to line up. Then they started appearing, first one, then two, until we had 10 BRM's all lined up looking absolutely splendid in their orangeness.

To organise an event and have this kind of turn out makes it all worth it and seeing them all lined up is truly a sight to behold for any BRM enthusiast. Each one had its own little individual marks from Rover badges on the standard air filter to a replica splitter from the prototype.

Photo's followed along with a lot of hand shaking and talking about the various cars, their heritage and peoples plans for the future of their car. With Kev being the tenth to turn up we moved the cars back to get them all together without various other cars like cadillacs getting in the way. At this point I'd like to thank our two other supporters that had arrived, Phil in his ZR and I have to apologise for not catching the name, but a rather lovely ZR kitted R200....

The best in show was decided and it went to Tony's brother (I didn't cathc his name unfortunately) for his stunningly clean BRM)....

http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e158/brm_ski/Rover%20BRM%20Meet%20at%20Gaydon/PICT0079.jpg

We then ventured into the museum, it seemed smaller than last time i'd been there and they'd even sold the BRM gas turbine car :( There are still some fantastic cars there and I took pictures of some of my favourites....

Heading back outside it seemed everyones mind was on lunch! :ike: We went into Gaydon to the nearby Malt Shovel and promptly filled up half their carpark with lovely orangeness. Peoples faces seeing that many BRM's together were a picture and I have to say that the food in the pub was excellent (especially as mine came really quickly). Here's a couple of the journey and carpark...

Much talk in the pub about cars and Rover in general on our tables passed the time and I thought we'd head to the next stop in our mini journey. It was decided to go to Kenilworth castle instead of Warwick castle and after a slight mix up on route of following the wrong person we arrived at the carpark to find that the one we wanted that would give excellent views of the castle was shut unfortunately :( However we took the oppurtunity for some photos of the cars in a much more scenic autumny setting under the trees...

A slight drizzle (the first of the day) signaled home time and everyone went their seperate ways. I cannot say thankyou enough to everyone that came and made the meet the success that it was, hopefully the next will be just as good if not better :D

Well done to all concerned, looked like a great meet. Nice to see all attendees with orange snouts.

Adam, do you know whether any of the non 'on site' attendees were there because the event was publicised in the mag? I can see Phil in one pic and I know last time I spoke to him he told me he was not online.

Once again, well done chaps.

When is the next one?

It was Tony's brother, I didn't catch his name unfortunately but his car was spotless!

I have had trouble with the old bill, got a £30 fine for those plates so they're show use only now

Just spotted mine! Does the owner of T887 still visit this site? If not - anyone remember who it was?
