Hi guys, I'm looking to get myself a BRM and restore it as much as possible to new condition. There isn't much around in the usual places at the moment, so if any of you know a BRM that's available let me know!

Hi, I am taking mine off the road as I can't afford to renew the insurance, and tax due at the end of the month. Redundacy forced me to sell my other car before Xmas, and I got this as a stop gap. but things ain't getting any better. If your interested here is the advert from eBay showing when and what I paid for it. I would rather someone make use of it than it just sit on my drive, and I can always buy another at a later date. Mot 11 months, taxed until end of jan.
eBay item number 170739724726
Pm me if your interested.
Cheers
Paul

An interesting car as it has the optional air conditioning and passenger airbag specified.

It depends how you look at it.
There were three official options for the 200 BRM LE: air conditioning, passenger airbag and a CD autochanger mounted under the passenger's front seat.
There are no official figures to confirm how many UK spec cars were fitted with one of these optional extras, several of them or all three of them. However, it would be fair to assume that air conditioning was the most common of the three features, although it is likely that no more than a quarter of the UK market cars had it, by my reckoning.

Ah, my next question answered of what were the options available for the brm as they seem pretty well :) Mine has got the cd changer in the boot, under the shelf support left hand side.

That's where mine is fitted too, it seems the early ones had a bracket under the passenger side parcel shelf moulding for the CD changer.

Some of the options were only available for a few months. By September 1999, the dealership from which I bought mine new had only been allocated two BRMs and neither had air conditioning or a passenger airbag.
I WAS offered a CD player fitted in the passenger side for a measly £700 extra but I passed on that for some reason.

Yes. Nearly as good value as the £75 rubber mats they also offered. Mind you, I did get two years' interest-free credit (50per cent down), two years' free servicing and one year's free insurance.
Oh and free MoTs with major services and permission to use their jet wash free.
alas, they became a Honda dealership and all bets were off.

That is also where my CD autochanger is fitted in my very late build MG ZR.
When I have got time I will go through the R3 200 Series parts list to see if there is any indication as to when there might have been a change in the location of the factory-fitted CD autochanger. Any change-over is usually indicated by a start VIN.

Shame I have no knowledge or skill at welding! How much would it cost to get the suspension mounts repaired?

I presume its just a top mount on the front suspension, probably a cruel fail but most welders will have done this a zillion times shouldnt cost much or what sounds like a hole in the sill, again another quick patch

Funny how a simple link can take you back in time. Had a quick peek in the for sale section, hope the brm's cope with rust better than those maestro's lol

My brm came from a dealership in Cambridge, it has air con and air bag, unfortunately my sister in law didn't pay the extra for the cd but she did stretch to the rubber mats !:)
