What's the tell tale sign of this going or gone.

I have notices a very light knocking from my drivers side front when breaking at very low speed (10-15mph when pulling up on my drive etc.) it's not loud and it's as if the caliper is catching, but it isn't!

If it is ABS Ring etc, is it a pig of a job and/or expensive?

It may not be this, just thought I'd ask????

If your ABS ring was giong you'd feel it through your brake pedal when coming to a stop, the ABS kicks in sporadically making the peddle judder.

Replacement rings are £30 is a pair from ebay and then I paid my mech about £100 to put them on.

It's the ABS ring. Mine has also gone.

I've just pulled the fuse out of the ABS until I get it fixed, the juddering was annoying me.
If I remember right it's fuse no.2, 15AMP. A warning light will come on but the brakes work as normal, but wheels may skid if you slam on the brakes.

I'm not convinced it is the ABS ring as surely he'd have reported the peddle feel or ABS warning light coming on rather than just a noise from the wheel?

Yip, by the sound of it I don't think it is the ABS Ring, there's no juddering (as yet) and the sound is not loud like a clonking or banging, it's more like something is catching on the disc or caliper.
I feel a weekend investigation coming on!!!!

Maybe your sliders pins need greasing/de-rusting and it's keeping the pads close to the disc?

Quicker and just as cheap to get new outer cv joints off the bay you can get them for around 16 quid with new boot and greese far easier than getting burnt
