Hello again! I'm having a really great time of late. First, I smacked the nearside mirror. After taping up the surviving lens, I sent off for a NEW mirror from WingMirrorMan, of Bury, Greater Manchester. First rate service for £40-odd, very speedy. Alas, I can't say the same about a local ex-MG Rover garage which has yet to come up with the silver spray I ordered to paint said mirror the same colour as its driver's side pal. Ideas, anyone?

Oh, by the way, I have the Haynes manual for the 1999 standard 200 series but the mirror fitting section is less than clear. Help again?

Next, the everloving OE radio/cassette has decided not to work. All I get when switching it on is the "Rover" then "Code" message. Nothing else from the steering wheel controls or the radio itself. The (replacement) clock unit is still working well, however.

Being a thicko and borderline geriatric to boot, I could use a little help here, chaps and chapesses.

Regards,
Rab

You can get the sparkle silver colour made up at Halfords in a spray can. Just ask for paint code Rover MNH. I've bought one and it was spot on. As for the radio, you need to enter the four-digit code to get it working, which should be on the security card that came with the car.

Kev.

Thank you, young sir! Ace advice and v. sharp about it. I will hie me to a Halfordery and give them the message. I will rummage about for the security card for the radio when I get home from work tonight. I bought the BRM new so I must have it somewhere. I know I have the ICE booklet etc. Let's just hope the mirror goes on easy!

Many thanks,

Rab

you might find it's written on the radio itself, which defeats the object some what...

replacing the mirrors is easy peasy. simply remove the plastic triangle from inside the door, this requires some judicious tugging at the top but the bottom is clipped under the door card. you can remove it without taking off the door card but its easier with it removed.

hard bit out of the way, now its just 2 screws ans a connector and the mirror is off, voila!
