Hi Folks, I'll be replacing the coolant in the next couple of days with '4-Life' advanced coolant from Demon Tweeks.

I've used this in the past, in the Metro 1.4 GTa, and it seemed really efficient. It also has the benefit of being bright red, and turns yellow if exhaust gases are present in the coolant, therefore a good indicator of HGF.

My question is, on the Metro 1.4 GTa there were two bleed screws, one metal one on the RHS metal coolant rail and one plastic one on the top rubber pipe.

On the BRM I can only see one bleed screw on the metal rail.

Is there another one please, and like the Metro, is it a case of filling the system (after flushing) very slowly indeed to avoid airlocks?

Any advice greatly received!

Cheers v much,
Ben :)

When I dropped the coolant before I used the effective but messy method of disconnecting the bottom hose from the radiator. Very quick :mml: Or even quicker was when we ran the engine up but found a jubilee clip wasn't on tight enough, that sprayed coolant everywhere within a second.

As you said, fill it slowly to try and get all the air out and squeeze all the hoses, etc.

The BRM only has the screw on the coolant rail.

Good luck with it pal,

When I replaced my rad I found rusty old coolant, after replacing with the good stuff, the water pump went, then a couple of months later the headgasket!,

Im being a bit a of a K series Cynic at the moment having just done the gasket and spent a day chasing various coolant leaks after!

Cheers v much for the replies. The current coolant is nice and clean, I just want to replace the senders and get the HGF warning fluid in. Fingers crossed, it's only got 38,500 miles on it, so HOPEFULLY not too many probs..... :)
