my rover brm revs stick as you probably allready know...ive changed the throttle body to a 52 mil ally one and checked the sensor ...now the mechanic thinks it could be the stepper motor but ive heard the k series hasnt got one ..could you tell me what the stepper motor is for and if it has one ..could it be the cause of the car sticking at 2000 then when i touch the accelerator the revs slump to maybee 200 then the car cuts out ...thanx v much mate if it has one i heard you can reset them ....how????? i might sell the beast a its dying on me

Mine was reving on idle too, and sometimes feels as if its miss firing at low rev's when you set off, changed the stepper motor to a brand new genuine item (£95) which made no difference what so ever. next step for me is change the plugs, then maybe leads (even though they've only been on a year, genuine) then coil pack. any other ideas?? Its not a sticky throttle body or throttle position sensor as I have tried 2 different ones!!

Shouldnt you do plugs and leads before spending a ton on a new stepper motor?

Tbh it does run a tad better with the stepper motor, but it still revs, I read on a load of forums that that was the problem, so purchased one!! Plus it failed the MOT on emissions so thought this could be partly to blame, the plugs and leads have been on a year, BUT it has been doig it for a while now!! so assumed that wasn't the problem, ive read on another forum that someone changed there coil pack on there MGF and cured it!! might see if I can get one from the scrapy to test it
