can people list there flywheel bhp and mods on the car, want to get a bit more poke nothing drastic but max for less buck etc, and interested to know what everyone else has done.
Flywheel figures are to be honest a load of tosh.
When mine was done a couple of years back it was 127 at the wheels.
Unfortunately for power with the K-series engine its not cheap. The best simple bolt-on mods are the 52mm throttle body, a good induction kit (ITG Maxogen is the best but very expensive) the a full exhaust system including sports cat.
Don't decat as its proven to hinder the performance of the vvc engine.
There's some things to get you started with.

got an exhaust a power flow one, k&n panel filter, and next is 52mm tb but what will that realalistically give me, what about mainfolds etc?
powerflow say there exhausts give you 4bhp
Pah, I doubt a powerflow backboc has given you anything to be brutally honest.
Best route with exhaust is the full Janspeed system. That's manifold, sports cat, intermediate pipe, etc. Designed for the k-series specifically, none of this "we'll make it fit" gubbins.
The 52mm TB won't give you anything hp wise but will improve the throttle response and eliminate the sticking throttle problem of the standard plastic TB.
You simply can't gain large amounts of power from the K-series unless you spend serious money.

I'm surprised at that, I put a big bore throttle body on my E30 318is and shaved an average of 0.2s on the 60 sprint according to the g-tech meter
Well it wont give anything noticeable. Unfortunately Rover actually did a very good job of getting as much power out of the K as possible without drastic changes.
The 52mm TB may give something like 0.5hp but its not noticeable. It does smooth the power band though.

decat's rule!!!
and I have 136 at the wheels ;)
The Janspeed system cat-back has made a noticeable improvement to mine, and that's with an ITG panel filter which was already fitted. I imagine the numbers involved are tiny, but a definite improvement in the mid-range nontheless, loving it big time! :)
Incidentally, de-catting my old Metro GTa 1.4 K series (sob, I miss it still) made a massive difference, and that was with a Pipercross 'induction kit' fitted, and Bosal mild steel system for the GTi model. Loved that induction roar.
I'm 37 and a half, and don't intend growing up. :):):)

If it wasn't in a BRM, I'd say throw the VVC head away and fit a non-VVC, as the more mods you make, without a re-chip, just cause the VVC to battle with the advance/retarding of the timing..
A 120 ZR will tune up a hell of a lot more than a 160.. Strange, but true..

ok so if i have powerflow cat back, decat, k&n panel filter, 52mm tb, what should i see on rollers? if it all goes wrong i'll simply have cat back on but for 30 quid and an hours work swapping them is no issue.

steam from between the head and the block.. dont you just love the K series..
All depends on the engine Rossy. With the engines getting on to 9-10 years old every one will be different unfortunately.

not exactly true
the head of the 1.8 with vvc is better, has bigger valve's a slightly other flow if you want to tune the 1.8 with 120bhp you have to swap to a vvc head. if you have a vvc, you can just take out the vvc mechanism and put some sollid cams in.

Do you have the part no for the Janspeed sports cat? My BRM is already fitted with the Janspeed back box and had a new down pipe recently.
Also, can you let me know when front and rear badges will be available?
Thanks

I'll get it for you later, although the Janspeed sports cat will only pair up with the Janspeed manifold as the flanges are matched.
Badges should be sometime after the 20th I'm afraid.

vvc heads have larger ports though.
please look at this site,it will give you all an indication of "whats possible" with the k-series.

the k series in itself is an excellent engine, its also one of the lightest which can make for a good power to weight ratio car.
