A must do mod for any BRM owner is the replacement of the standard 48mm plastic throttle body for either a 48mm or 52mm alloy throttle body (tb). The standard plastic tb is prone to sticking and can cause annoying problems when driving around in towns.
The replacement of the original tb to an alloy one is a very simple operation and can be accomplished in approximately 20 minutes. The tb can be seen in this picture just after the elbow in the intake pipe…

Firstly disconnect the two tubes and the sensor clip that plug into the tb and detach the throttle cable from the far side as well. Remove the intake elbow and the tb is now ready to be removed. Its an easy job of undoing the four bolts that hold the tb in place with a socket.
Fitting the new tb is simply a reverse of the procedure above, with care being taken when re-attaching the throttle cable to ensure that it is not too loose or tight.
The end results will not see an increase in power but will free-up the response of the throttle a bit more and with the 52mm will provide a slightly better airflow on the intake side of the engine.
