Hi Folks,

I thought I'd try and clean around the inside of the coolant expansion tank as far as I could reach with finger / cloth and to my horror found a small amount of BEIGE MAYO!!!!!

Now this has always been around the edge of the tank as far as I can remember, and there are no bits floating in the coolant and the dipstick / oil filler cap are both immaculate.

I'm using a tiny bit of coolant every few weeks, as I am now having to do a couple of city centre hot temp traffic jam runs every week, no big deal though. Both temp senders recently replaced and fan working fine.

I'm running '4-Life' coolant from Demon Tweeks which is bright red, and turns bright yellow when exhaust gas is present thus warning of HGF. So far it has stayed perfectly red.

(Works too, I blew the exhaust into a small jar of the stuff, bingo, bright yellow-tastic)

So, ignore it and carry on as usual, or try and get the HG replaced before it goes pop properly?:wacko:

that coolent sounds ace, mine has developed some mayo and for the sake of 80 quyid in parts i'm changing mine before any damage is caused, simple answer is change yours!

the mayo doesn't just appear random;y there's a fault so check and replace parts as needed, before the car overheats causeing more issues, mines only in coolent tank, but its not conensation so only leaves hg as a cause.

anything like this

if it's only in the filler cap, and only limited amounts, odds are it's just condensation.

Yeah, just a wee bit of gunk. I've had it before when doing short runs.

Well i'd say from your video Ross that yours is knackered. More than just a wee bit of gunk there.

To be honest Ross, and please don't take this the wrong way, but from your posts i'd seriously suggest getting a mechanic to do it for you as changing a headgasket isn't really the job for someone with improper tools/knowledge.
